The award-winning feature film My Little Moon, written, produced, and directed by acclaimed Iranian-American filmmaker Ali Atshani, has been officially selected for the 21st Marbella International Film Festival (MIFF 2026), one of Southern Europe’s long-running international independent film festivals.

The festival will take place October 7–12, 2026, in the beautiful Mediterranean city of Marbella, located on Spain’s famous Costa del Sol in the province of Málaga. Every year, the festival brings together filmmakers, producers, distributors, investors, film executives, and members of the international press from around the world for six days of screenings, industry events, networking opportunities, workshops, and red-carpet premieres.

The official invitation confirms that My Little Moon will be presented as part of the festival’s Official Selection, placing the film among the internationally selected productions chosen to screen during this year’s event.

Directed by Ali Atshani, My Little Moon is an emotionally powerful drama that explores themes of identity, freedom, family, and the human cost of political conflict through the lives of two young women whose destinies become intertwined across cultures and borders. The film has attracted international attention for its compelling storytelling, sensitive direction, and strong performances.

Since beginning its international festival run, My Little Moon has received significant recognition on the global festival circuit, earning multiple awards, including Best Feature Film, Best Director, and Best Actress at several international film festivals. The selection at Marbella represents another important milestone in the film’s growing international journey.

Now celebrating its 21st edition, the Marbella International Film Festival has established itself as an important platform for independent cinema, showcasing feature films, documentaries, shorts, animation, and emerging filmmaking talent from across the globe. Beyond film screenings, the festival offers an extensive industry program featuring filmmaker networking sessions, project pitching opportunities, financing discussions, educational masterclasses, and meetings with distributors and international industry professionals.

The 2026 edition will also feature its signature Red Carpet Premiere Experience, industry conferences, filmmaker workshops, and gala events, providing selected filmmakers with opportunities to connect with professionals from various sectors of the international film business.

Commenting on the selection, director Ali Atshani said:

“It is an honor for My Little Moon to become part of the Official Selection of the Marbella International Film Festival. Every international selection gives independent cinema another opportunity to reach new audiences, build cultural dialogue, and connect with filmmakers from around the world. We are grateful to the festival for this recognition and look forward to presenting the film in Spain.”

The 21st Marbella International Film Festival will be held from October 7 through October 12, 2026, with screenings, industry activities, networking events, and the festival’s awards ceremony taking place throughout Marbella on Spain’s Mediterranean coast.

For My Little Moon, the Official Selection at Marbella adds another prestigious international screening to an already successful festival campaign and continues the film’s expanding presence on the global stage.
